 ins\, Sunday\, April 26 at 8pm\, at Barnevelder Movement/Arts Complex.\nPh
antom Orchard Ikue Mori (New York) - electronics\, computer\, drum machine
s\, live video. Zeena Parkins (New York) - acoustic harp\, electric harp\
, electronics Individually\, these two possess endless and fascinating res
ources for innovation\, imagination\, and maverick creativity. Both have c
reated bodies of work of such intricate originality that musical genres ar
e obliterated and points of reference are impossible to identify. Together
\, Ikue Mori and Zeena Parkins form one of the most gorgeously stimulating
collaborations in recent memory. I\nn the early 1980's\, Ikue Mori came i
nto prominence as drummer and founder of the seminal No Wave band DNA\, a
group that altered the face of rock music forever. In the mid 1980's\, she
became the innovator of a shockingly original use of drum machines in imp
rovised music\, and an important presence on the New York Downtown scene.
In 2000\, she continued to work on the cutting edge of electronic music\,
using the laptop computer to expand on her signature sound. A composer an
d improvisor\, Mori's collaborators read like a roll call of strong and in
dependent musical minds. Among many others\, they include: Susie Ibarra\,
 Kim Gordon\, Jim O'Rourke\, John Zorn\, Mike Patton\, and Dave Douglas.\nF
or more information on Ikue Mori\, go to www.ikuemori.com.\nZeena Parkins
is well known as the foremost pioneer of the electric harp and the extende
d language of the acoustic harp. Her virtuosic technique is expanded with
the inventive use of unusual playing techniques\, preparations\, and layer
s of digital and analog processing. Parkins' unique vision blurs boundarie
s between improvisation and composition\, acoustic and electric\, digital
and analog\, and processed and concrete sounds. An artist of incredible ra
nge\, Parkins has worked with an amazingly diverse group of musicians incl
 uding: Thurston Moore\, Pauline Oliveros\, Bjork\, Yoko Ono\, John Zorn\,
and Fred Frith. Phantom Orchard will use live video improvisation\, adding
a visual layer to their performance.\nFor more information on Zeena Parki
 ns\, go to www.zeenaparkins.com.\n\nStart time: 8pm
