 standing string students for the AFA (American Festival for the Arts) Facu
 lty Recital with Honors String Students\, a  unique performance of chamber
  music. Faculty ensemble will perform a variety of chamber music for piano
 \, winds\, brass and strings.  AFA's honors string students will perform m
 ature chamber music selections as part of their advanced training.\nAmeric
 an Festival for the Arts Honors String Students are a part of the intensiv
 e five week Orchestra/Chamber Music program and are selected by invitation
  to take part in advanced chamber music training with dedicated faculty me
 mbers.\nAmerican Festival for the Arts (AFA) was founded in 1993 by Housto
 n composer J. Todd Frazier to provide accessible\, high-quality music educ
 ation and performance opportunities for youth and to broaden the audience 
 for both new American works and the standard classical music repertory.\nT
 o achieve its mission\, AFA presents an annual Summer Music Conservatory a
 nd Concert Series. This unique and acclaimed community-based music educati
 on program\, featuring faculty members drawn from the nations' finest educ
 ators\, performers\, composers and conductors\, has become recognized as a
 n important annual event in the cultural life of Southeast Texas and as a 
 model for similar programs around the nation. A rigorous curriculum that i
 ncludes large and small ensemble performance\, music theory/enrichment cla
 sses and private lessons forms the core of AFA's orchestra\, jazz\, choir\
 , piano and composition departments.\nThe Conservatory is an inspiring\, l
 ife changing experience for its students. In 2008\, AFA's thirteenth Summe
 r Music Conservatory enrolled 332 students from 109 elementary\, middle an
 d senior high schools. AFA presented twenty-one free concerts to thousands
  of area music lovers featuring more American works and world premieres th
 an any other area presenter. More than three out of every five students re
 ceived tuition assistance from the AFA Scholarship Enrichment Fund.\n\nSta
