 actually!  Cultivated\, sold\, bartered or traded\, corn was the staple ve
 getable for humans as well as livestock. The fields were the 'supermarket'
  in 1850s Texas. Barrington Living History Farm invites you to celebrate t
 he corn harvest. At the Aww Shucks event\, discover the various ways corn 
 was prepared and cooked in 19th century Texas. Pick\, shuck\, shell\, and 
 grind corn. Learn preservation techniques and many curious uses for all pa
 rts of the corn plant\, plus enjoy a variety of other corny activities.\nT
 he fun begins Saturday\, July 25 and continues on Sunday\, July 26 at the 
 Barrington Living History Farm\, the home of Anson Jones\, the last presid
 ent of the Republic of Texas. Hours are 10 a.m.-4:30 p. m.\, with admissio
 n fees of $5 for adults and $3 for students. Children under six are admitt
 ed free. State Park pass holders are also admitted free. Discounted tour t
 ickets for Independence Hall and the Star of the Republic Museum are avail
