  proud to present the 2009/2010 Inprint Margarett Root Brown Reading Serie
 s\, one of the finest reading series in the country\, giving Houstonians a
  chance to hear from and meet some of the world's leading writers. From Se
 ptember through May\, 12 renowned authors will come to Houston\, many for 
 the first time\, sharing their work and insights.\nSince the readings seri
 es began\, Inprint has hosted more than 300 of the world's great writers\,
  including winners of 4 Nobel Prizes\, 44 Pulitzer Prizes\, and 43 Nationa
 l Book Awards. The Series ranks among the nation's leading literary showca
 ses and continues to be accessible to all.\nAll readings take place on Mon
 days at 7:30 pm (doors open at 6:45). Each reading features an on-stage in
 terview\, followed by a book sale and signing\, run by Brazos Bookstore.\n

 sville and is a life-long resident of Texas\, where his collection of shor
 t stories\, Brownsville: Stories and now his first novel\, Amigoland\, are
  set. Marilynne Robinson describes Casares' fiction as &ldquo\;clear-eyed 
 and fresh\, full of sweet gravity and pensive humor.&rdquo\; Publishers We
 ekly says that Casares' stories\, &ldquo\;probing underneath the surface o
 f Tex-Mex culture\, with their wisecracking\, temperamental\, obsessive mi
 ddle-aged men and their dramas straight from neighborhood gossip\, are in 
 the direct line of descent from Mark Twain and Ring Lardner.&rdquo\;\nCasa
 res is the recipient of a 2006 National Endowment for the Arts fellowship 
 and now teaches creative writing at the University of Texas in Austin\, wh
 ere he lives with his wife and young son.\nGWENDOLYN ZEPEDA\, a native Hou
 stonian\, is the author of the story collection\, To the Last Man I Slept 
 with and All the Jerks Just Like Him\, and the debut novel\, Houston\, We 
 Have a Problema\, as well as the popular blog\, gwenworld.com. The San Ant
 onio Current says of Zepeda's story collection that it is a &ldquo\;brutal
 ly candid\, laugh-out-loud\, feminist\, barrio manifesto that sometimes re
 ads like suggestive science fiction cross-pollinated with Tess of the d'Ur
 bervilles.&rdquo\; Booklist says of her most recent work\, &ldquo\;the vib
 rant Houston setting and the novel's emphasis on Tex-Mex culture\, art\, a
 nd folklore add unusual and alluring touches to this debut novel.&rdquo\;
 \nZepeda will read from her new novel\, Lone Star Legend\, also set in Tex
 as\, which follows aspiring journalist Sandy Saavedra in her efforts to co
 mbat Latino stereotypes. Zepeda also writes children's books for Arte P&ua
 cute\;blico Press.\n\nStart time: All readings take place on Mondays at 7:
