s Company in Thicket and Strange Planet\, Fri / Sat / Sun January 15\, 16\
 , 17\, 2010\, at the Barnevelder Theater\, 2201 Preston @ Hutchins. Intima
te and intricate dance theatre\, performed in-the-round\, surreal sonic en
vironment generated live\, individualized audience headphones\, limited s
eating!!!\nThicket explores an environment that grows more and more dense
with the entanglements of human interactions\, as four dancers\, driven by
forces larger than they can know\, stretch physical relationships into sp
ace in an intimate setting where the visual and aural dislocate. Performed
in the round for audience members seated on the dance floor\, Thicket fea
tures a hyper-real and surreal sonic environment generated live by compose
r Andy Russ for an audience listening on headphones. \nThicket's original
premiere Danspace Project in New York City on January 24\, 2008 was made p
ossible\, in part\, by the Danspace Project 2007-08 Commissioning Initiati
ve\, with support from the Jerome Foundation and The New York State Music

ere was a sense not of pathways or travel\, just of irresistible natural f
 orces at work... magical.'\nJennifer Dunning\nNew York Times\nJanuary 26\,
2008 \n\n'Redefining chaos... Fuchs has found a perfect title for the ill
usion of delicate complexity that he has created... What we see and hear i
n the beguiling collaboration between the choreographer and composer Andy
Russ is sparer than most thickets... Yet\, as in nature\, surprises crop u
p\, patterns come out of hiding\, and sounds and imagery become denser.'\n
 Deborah Jowitt\nVillage Voice \nJanuary 29\, 2008\n\nGrounded in explorati
ons of physical theater\, Strange Planet is an imaginative choreographic l
andscape for five dancers\, characterized by disorientation and a pervasiv
e undercurrent of aggression. Presented as a work-in-progress\, Strange Pl
anet is a power play between performers\, responding to a multiplicity of
simultaneous video and sonic information streams. Strange Planet was devel

part\, by a TWU School of the Arts Faculty Scholarship Enhancement Grant.
