 nday\, April 18 at 3pm in Pershing Middle School Auditorium\, 3838 Blue Bo
 nnet at Stella Link.  Paulsen will make a lively presentation about his wo
 rk\, followed by a book sale and signing\, where audience members can meet
  the author.\nGary Paulsen\, considered one of the most important writers 
 of young people today\, has more than 26 million books in print and is the
  author of more than 175 books and 200 articles and short stories for chil
 dren and adults. A master storyteller\, Paulsen is a three time Newberry H
 onor Book winner for the novels Hatchet\, Dogsong\, and The Winter Room. S
 chool Library Journal included his book Hatchet in their list of &ldquo\;O
 ne Hundred Books That Shaped the Century.&rdquo\; Paulsen's other major wo
 rks include Mudshark\, which is on the Bluebonnet Master List this year\, 
 and the fan favorite Lawn Boy. His books frequently appear on the best boo
 ks lists of the American Library Association and the New York Times hails 
 Paulsen as &ldquo\;one of the best-loved writers alive.&rdquo\;\nPaulsen's
  latest novel Woods Runner is a vivid and harrowing story about a teenage 
 boy in the midst of the Revolutionary War. Paulsen says\, &ldquo\;I wrote 
 Woods Runner because I wanted the Revolutionary War to be seen in its real
 ity. I wanted to dispute the mythic\, clean\, even antiseptic qualities in
  many histories\, because war is never\, not ever\, clean.&rdquo\; In late
  March he will publish Lawn Boy Returns\, the sequel to Lawn Boy.\nPaulsen
  and his wife\, Ruth Wright Paulsen\, an artist who has illustrated severa
 l of his books\, divide their time between homes in Alaska and New Mexico
