  the banks of Spring Creek. Jones Park is a window into a vast floodplain

  Jones Park staff and volunteers offer a variety of guided tours and free 
 programming ranging from the lifestyles and customs of local Indian tribes
  and pioneer settlers to the environmental benefits of this natural settin
 g.\n\nVolunteers showcase their talents at several annual festivals held i
 n the Redbud Hill Homestead and Akokisa Indian Village. The two largest fe
 stivals are Texas Heritage Day in the Spring and Pioneer Day the first Sat
 urday in November.\n\nThe staff at Jones Park leads a variety of environme
 ntal education tours and programs.\n\nJones Park is rich in natural beauty
  and provides many recreational opportunities for thousands of visitors ea
 ch year. White sand beaches along Spring Creek offer the perfect spot for 
 year-round fishing. Or experience the native flora and fauna from mid-stre
 am on a guided canoe trip. These popular trips are offered free of charge 
 by reservation in the spring\, fall\, and winter.\n\nHistorical and cultur
 al displays\, located in the Nature Center\, highlight the lifestyles of t
 he Akokisa Indians and early pioneer settlers. Nature Center exhibits also
  offer a glimpse into the diverse ecosystem of Jones Park with a collectio
 n of live and taxidermic native wildlife.\n\nMore than five miles of paved
 \, all-weather trails\, and boardwalks are wheelchair and stroller accessi
 ble.\n\nSpecial programs offering hands-on activities are arranged for com
 munity\, school\, and scouting organizations. Learn about the day-to-day l
 ife of the Akokisa Indians and Texas settlers with demonstrations of woodw
 orking\, blacksmithing\, corn grinding\, and other skills necessary for su
