Houston Ballet is offering various, exciting internship opportunities to both undergraduate and graduate students over the course of summer (starting Tuesday June 5, 2018). These internships are a great opportunity to gain valuable experience in working the fields of art, dance, and non-profit organization. Interns will be able to assist and learn within a specific department and witness the day-to-day activities that make the Houston Ballet a world class ballet company

NOTE: All internships are unpaid and offer flexible hours to accommodate school or work schedules.

MARKETING & PUBLIC RELATIONS INTERN (Marketing and Public Relations Department)

The Marketing & PR Intern will have the opportunity to gain experience in many aspects of Houston Ballet’s Marketing department. The intern will work under the direct supervision of the Associate Director of Marketing & PR and every effort is made to assist the intern in building strong professional skills.

Knowledge and Skill Requirements:

  • An organized and enthusiastic person studying any major related to the internship of the applicants interest.
  • Excellent writing and verbal communication skills, acute attention to detail and the ability to work independently are required.
  • Must be a current student in the field of Marketing/Communications, Public Relations, or Advertising and have a knowledge of web (HTML) / CMS, social media and marketing savvy in copy writing.
  • Dance knowledge preferred, but not required


  • Assist with social media and email marketing programs, including e-Newsletters.
  • Assist with public relations efforts, including coverage generation, logistics, and tracking.
  • Assist with print publications such as Houston Ballet News and large-format programs.
  • Assist with departmental advertising efforts and fulfillment.
  • Assist in the organization and optimization of Houston Ballet’s new, award-winning website.
  • Coordinate benchmarking research and projects as assigned.
  • Work with Public Relations staff to sort and archive press activity from the 2016/17 Season.
  • Coordinate the on-going digitization of Houston Ballet’s performance programs.
  • Learn how to create, develop, and manage a Google Grant advertising account.
  • All other duties as assigned.
