John Wesley UMC is pleased to announce the establishment of a juried art contest and sale to be held at the Church campus from September 14 through 16, 2012. The inspiration for the theme of the contest comes from The Old Testament:

Genesis 1:31
“ God saw all that he had made, and it was very good. And there was evening, and there was morning“

The interpretation of this scripture will be left to the artist.

The categories for the contest will be: 

1. Oil
2. Watercolor
3. Sculpture
4. Mixed Media

The Best of Show winner will receive $1,000. Each winner of Best of Category will receive $250. To qualify for the contest the art will be juried by a qualified judge for entry. Entries can be submitted digitally or in person. A fee of $25.00 will be charged for each accepted work of art. Entries must be received by August 31 in order to allow enough time to prepare for the Art Fest.

A separate contest category will be held for children 12 years and younger. Ribbons will be awarded for various categories. In addition to the art contest, a separate area will be made available in the Wesley Activity Center for artists to display and sell their art.

The current plan is to open the Art Fest to the public at 5:00 PM on Friday September 14 until 8:00PM. The Fest will then reopen at 12:00 pm on Saturday and Sunday, September 15 and 16. Prizes will be awarded at 5:00 PM on Sunday.
