Job Description: Young Audiences of Houston seeks a motivated and highly organized individual that appreciates and enjoys interaction with K-12 schools and community venues, working with a talented and diverse group of visual and performing artists from all disciplines to further the advancement of arts-in-education.
The Program Director schedules and process’ paperwork and supports all aspects of the education and program departments along with supporting the overseeing the development and expansion efforts of arts-education programs in partnership with our 75+ roster of teaching artists, art therapists, and arts specialists.
This position will receive support from programming team and work collaboratively with programming team of (3) employees to support Young Audiences of Houston’s educational initiatives.
The responsibilities of this position include:
• Maintain high customer service standards
• Communication daily with clients and artists for programmatic assistance and support
• Schedule and process paperwork for artist programs
• Process invoices and payments in Filemaker
• Maintain and manage all scheduling records through Filemaker
• Generate artist and client paperwork as needed
• Update the website content as needed
• Update artist calendars as needed
• Attend conferences, presentations, or events as needed to promote programming and organization
• Answer incoming phone calls and respond to e-mail and mail
• Draft correspondence and maintain office files
• Maintain departmental mail distribution lists (in excel)
• Create and send departmental and committee meeting reminders as requested
• Create monthly promotional emails through constant contact for electronic distribution
• Assist with department mail outs and electronic marketing campaigns
• Assist with the coordination of special events as needed
• Deliver board reports regarding programmatic developments and progress
• Increase programming partnerships with schools, districts, parents, and educators through community outreach efforts
• Increase overall awareness of organization and mission within the community
• Develop and aide in the development of programming of high artistry and educational content under the supervision and guidance of the curriculum specialist
• Oversee the delivery of evaluations with support from the programming team
• Make decisions regarding the annual catalog of programs and marketing materials
• Develop performance schedule for the annual previews event at Discovery Green, and lead the programming team in promoting the event
• Recruit and direct volunteers in supporting educational initiatives
Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in the arts, business, or communications
• Ability to develop and oversee new organizational initiatives
• Ability to handle a high volume of telephone and email interactions
• Ability to organize, multi-task and prioritize
• Excellent organizational and customer service skills
• Superior written and verbal communications skills including grammatical accuracy
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Systems
• Ability to sit for long periods of time and lift and/or move at least 20 pounds
• Must have a valid Texas driver’s license and regular access to reliable transportation
• Ability to work some weekends and evenings for special events
• Bilingual in Spanish a plus
• Experience with Filemaker software a plus
