    When the Bartók Concerto was premiered in 1944, legendary Boston Symphony Orchestra conductor Serge Koussevitzky called it “the best orchestral work of the past twenty-five years.”

    Prelude, sponsored by Fluor, begins 50 minutes before each concert. Ira J. Black discusses how Bartók shaped the form Beethoven used to highlight the violin into a spotlight for the entire orchestra.
