Commissioned by DiverseWorks Arts Space with The Pat Graney Company, 7 Stages and NPN, Scott Turner Schofield's Becoming a Man in 127 Easy Steps will be featured on Friday & Saturday, February 20 and 21 at the Diverse Works Arts Space.

Scott Turner Schofield puts his personal journey from female-bodied boy to butch girl to unrecognizable woman to man on display through his performance, Becoming a Man in 127 Easy Steps

Schofield has created a Choose Your Own Adventure solo play, where the audience chooses which of the 127 autobiographical stories he has developed.

These stories, conveyed through storytelling, stand-up comedy, fantastical movement sequences and drag routines, explore Schofield's transition from female to male, exploring his origins, childhood, and young life as a transgender person.

Sometimes funny, sometimes shocking in their frank emotional honesty, these wildly original theatrical performances last from 30 seconds to five minutes and give audiences a view into the many parts of a person that make up the whole.

About Scott Turner Schofield Scott Turner Schofield is a man who was a woman, a lesbian turned straight guy (who is mostly read as a gay man) creating theater about gender and sexuality in the Deep South. Obviously, his work centers on comedic contradictions. Touring the acclaimed original performances Debutante Balls (2004) and Underground Transit (2001), Schofield has been called a "Young Trans Hero" by The Advocate magazine (2006) and has been lauded by diverse audiences for work that has eased and enlivened conversations about gender identity and sexuality in communities across the United States.

In 2007, Schofield received the prestigious Princess Grace Foundation Fellowship in Acting. The Foundation, a public charity formed after the death of Princess Grace in 1982, awards grants, scholarships, apprenticeships and fellowships to assist emerging artists in their training.
