Society for the Performing Arts presents Joe Goode Performance Group at the Wortham Theater Center - Cullen Theater.

The fearlessly innovative choreographer Joe Goode brings his San Francisco-based, dance theater company to Houston in two works: Wonderboy, his new collaboration with puppeteer extraordinaire Basil Twist, and the re-mounting of an iconic Joe Goode masterwork Maverick Strain.

Set to original music by Carla Kihlstedt and Matthias Bossi, Wonderboy involves the magical, expressive fragility of a puppet manipulated by the company’s dancers.

Maverick Strain is Goode’s deconstruction of Arthur Miller’s screenplay for the film The Misfits.

This program was funded in part by Mid-America Arts Alliance, a regional arts organization dedicated to providing arts and educational access, and in part by the National Dance Project of the New England Foundation for the Arts, with lead funding from Doris Duke Charitable Foundation.

Additional funding provided by The Ford Foundation, The Andrew W. Mellon Foundation, JP Morgan Chase Foundation and the MetLife Foundation.

This is a special season event with Arts Talk! sponsored by Invesco Aim with Q&A following the performance and an H-E-B Performance Prelude by Second Generation Dance (7:30pm, Grand Foyer, Wortham Center)
