Cantare Houston presents Mendelssohn and his Milieu, Saturday, February 7 in the Belin Chapel, Houston Baptist University Morris Cultural Arts Center.

This February CANTARE Houston commemorates the 200th anniversary of Felix Mendelssohn’s birth, presenting a concert of the composer’s more intimate works. Soprano Melissa Givens and pianist Timothy Hester intersperse solo vocal and piano selections throughout this rich choral program, which also features the Houston Baptist University Schola Cantorum.

Prior to the concert, Dr. Jeffrey Sposato will present a lecture on Mendelssohn, as well as provide commentary on the repertoire being performed. Please join us for an evening of musical and scholarly collaboration between CANTARE and the faculty and students of Houston Baptist University and the University of Houston.

Dr. Crista Miller, organ; Dr. John Yarrington, director, HBU Schola Cantorum.

This concert is co-sponsored by the School of Music, Houston Baptist University.
