The Montana Repertory Theatre returns its heart-felt and ultimately uplifting production of To Kill A Mockingbird to The Grand 1894 Opera House for one special performance Friday, March 13, at 8 pm.

Sponsored in part by Texas Commission on the Arts, Mid-America Arts Alliance and National Endowment for the Arts, this classic play explores the costs of taking a stand against injustice.

Set in a rural Southern community in 1935, and seen through the innocent and inquiring eyes of children, this vivid and authentic portrait of a whole community is a gripping drama, full of tension and discovery.

Harper Lee's Pulitzer-Prize winning novel, To Kill a Mockingbird, now celebrating the forty-ninth anniversary of its publication, was brought to the screen in an Academy Award-winning adaptation by Horton Foote in 1962 and was later adapted for the stage by Christopher Sergel.

Though almost 50 years old, this stage adaptation continues to compel and delight viewers worldwide with its warmth, wit, and wisdom. This poignant story celebrates the personal integrity and moral heroism of a father who loves his children – and the law.

Established as the theatre in residence at the School of Fine Arts at The University of Montana, Montana Repertory Theatre has been providing top-quality theatre to audiences across the country since 1967.

Past seasons have included works by Tennessee Williams, Wendy Wasserstein, Neil Simon, Arthur Miller, Eugene O'Neill, Horton Foote, Ken Ludwig, and William Gibson.

You won't want to miss this tense drama – a drama also filled with warmth and humor – and all to be experienced in the intimacy of The Grand.
