Brazos Bookstore is pleased to welcome Allison Amend as part of its Emerging Writers Series, who signs and discusses her book Things That Pass for Love, Monday, February 2 at 7pm.

Allison Amend's writing is both thoughtful and entertaining, with a strong sense of humor throughout. These thirteen stories are stunning in their diversity of character and place, in their authenticity, and in their just-plain-good-ness. Things That Pass for Love, is a stunning and diverse short story collection, voted one of the ten best short fiction collections of the year by the Kansas City Star.

Allison Amend was born in Chicago, Illinois on a day when the Cubs beat the Mets 2-0. She holds an MFA from the University of Iowa Writers' Workshop. While there, she learned never to live downwind from a pig farm and how to put English on a cue ball. She lives in New York, writing and teaching fiction.
