The Rothko Chapel presents Salon Series: The Power of Baroque, featuring Matthew Dirst, Harpsichord, and  Sonja Bruzauskas, Mezzo Soprano. Friday, March 20, 7 p.m.

This collaboration with Divas World Productions presents a salon evening of music exploring the similarities and differences between Baroque and contemporary music along with discussion on the topic.In the Baroque era, composers fell in love with the distinctive sound of the harpsichord, and in the twentieth century love struck again.

Harpsichordist Matthew Dirst, associate professor of music at the University of Houston and artistic director of Ars Lyrica Houston, and mezzo soprano Sonja Bruzauskas will engage the instrument and the audience. The Chapel presents a unique setting for this investigation and discussion of music of the two periods.
