First Saturday Art Market
March 7, 2009
Add Review/Comment
Artists from all over the greater Houston area will converge on the Heights once again for the First Saturday Art Market in the Houston Heights.
Coinciding with the Houston Heights Association's Heights 1st Saturday event, the art market along with its host, Wind Water Gallery, are on the complementary shopping shuttle route that circulates the neighborhood on this busy shopping day.
The free air conditioned shuttle service offered to visitors makes shopping the Heights a truly unique experience.
Now going into its fifth year, the First Saturday Art Market features up to 40 vendors with original paintings, jewelry, sculpture, ceramics and more.
Most artists are local, while others travel from the Austin, Bryan, College Station and Brenham to participate.
Keeping with the eclectic nature of the 100 year old neighborhood, the market has a few vendors that offer handmade soaps, fresh breads, spices and infused olive oils.
Local musicians always entertain and the market has seen some regulars like Duke Jones, David Fahl of Fahl & Folk, The Daniel Reich Trio and the Fun Country Band.
March 7, the market will be open 11 a.m. to 6 p.m., the shuttles run from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
More information and a complete artist listing is available on the Web site http://www.FirstSaturdayArtMarket.com or by calling Mitch or Carolyn Cohen, 713-802-1213.
