The world’s largest livestock show has to be able to feed huge crowds! The Lone Star State hosts a colossal, Texas-sized picnic to launch the annual event!

Just as the rodeo competitors hone their riding skills and shine their buckles, several hundred others are polishing their culinary tools and preparing to heat up their own winning run at glory! The World’s Championship Bar-B-Que Contest is three days of cooking, competition, eating and dancing. The sweet aroma drifts over the Houston metropolis, drawing crowds like bees to honey as a record 209,313 guests joined the feast in 2008.

While the camaraderie is fun and festive, the judging is all business as teams vie for the coveted title of World’s Championship Bar-B-Que Contest Champion. Trophies are awarded to teams preparing the best dish in each category (brisket, chicken, pork and spare ribs) as well as an overall winner. Awards also are presented to the most colorful team, the team with the cleanest area, the most unique pit and the Go Texan teams for best barbecue and most colorful team.

The Garden, located in the center of World's Championship Bar-B-Que Contest, provides live music with room for dancing. Live entertainment will be provided all three days of the contest for a fun family event.

Admission Info:

Reliant Park Admission:
•$7 adults (13+)
•$4 children 3-12

Reliant Park Admission Tickets include one day’s admission to the World’s Championship Bar-B-Que Contest and carnival, Feb. 26- 28, 2009, or to the livestock and horse shows, carnival, and shopping and food areas, March 3 – March 22, 2009. Activities in Reliant Stadium and wine event activities are not included. During the World’s Championship Bar-B-Que Contest, a Reliant Park Admission Ticket provides the ticket holder with a free chopped brisket sandwich meal upon presentation of a ticket stub.

Season Pass
The Livestock Show Season Pass is only $25 for admission to Reliant Park for all 20 days of the Houston Livestock Show (March 3 – March 22, 2009) and the World’s Championship Bar-B-Que Contest (Feb. 26 – 28). It gets you into Reliant Park for the livestock and horse shows, food and shopping exhibits, and children’s activities, — everything except Reliant Stadium (rodeo/concert) activities and wine events.
