The 22nd Annual ConocoPhillips Rodeo Run will once again help kick off the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo™ with a pavement-pounding 10K race and 5K fun run/walk on Saturday, Feb. 28, 2009. More than 7,000 athletes are expected to participate.

All ages are welcome to participate in the annual ConocoPhillips Rodeo Run, with entry fees donated to the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo Educational Fund. With its $220,000 donation in 2008, ConocoPhillips has contributed more than $2 million to the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo’s Educational Fund since the race began in 1988.

Runners and walkers will experience Houston’s only point-to-point 10K race and 5K fun run/walk in a festive atmosphere that celebrates the city’s western heritage. A combination of Texas flavor and hospitality, along with a Texas-sized post-race party, makes the event one of the most popular and memorable races in the region.

Participants will have the opportunity to win thousands of dollars worth of giveaways, including Continental Airlines tickets.

Online registration continues until February 22 at www.ConocoPhillipsRodeoRun.com. Participants can also register and pick-up their packets in person on Saturday, February 7 at the Kroger Signature Store located at 9919 Westheimer from 9:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. or at registration and packet pick-up at Luke’s Locker, 1953 West Gray, beginning Wednesday, February 25 through Friday, February 27, from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.

The race begins at 9:40 a.m. at the intersection of Texas Ave. and Smith St. and finishes with a Texas-sized post race party at Minute Maid Park.
