The Houston Family Arts Center (HFAC) presents Lanford Wilson’s touching romantic comedy Talley’s Folly, winner of the 1980 New York Critics’ Circle Award and Pulitzer Prize for drama. Directed by Lisa Garza, Talley’s Folly opens for a three week limited engagement August 21, 2009, at The Texas Repertory Theatre, 14243 Steubner Airline Road in Spring, TX. Tickets are affordably priced at $12-$16 and are now on sale for all performances.

Talley’s Folly, written by one of America’s best playwrights, tells the tale of two unlikely lovers, Matt Friedman, a German/American Jewish Accountant, and Sally Talley. Having just been driven from Sally’s family estate, Matt waits for Sally at a boat house on the banks of a river. On this night they find the courage to share painful secrets from their wounded pasts. Matt remains charming and indomitable, refusing to accept Sally’s rebuffs and her fears that her family would never approve of their marriage.

Totally honest and delightfully funny, he gradually overcomes her defenses until it is clear they are two kindred spirits meant for no one else but each other. This beautifully written tale proves how difficult and terrifying relationships can be, while celebrating the transformative power of love.

Talley’s Folly is sweet, sentimental, and seasoned with a delightful humor, making it a beautiful evening out for all ages. Talley’s Folly stars local Houston actor Casey Coale as Matt Friedman, Bryan actress Ashley Bertling as Sally Talley and Houston actress Candace Davis as understudy for Sally Talley.

Performances are at The Texas Repertory Theatre located at 14243 Steubner Airline Road in Spring, TX, just north of FM 1960 in the Northwood Plaza.
