    The Challenge Continues!

    The Buffalo Bayou Partnership, a non-profit organization dedicated to enhancing Houston’s historic waterway, invites all paddlers to join the fun.  Texas’ largest canoe and kayak race: The Buffalo Bayou Regatta. Houstonians of all ages are encouraged to participate in the 15-mile USCA-sanctioned race along the scenic Buffalo Bayou, whether you are entering competitively, or paddling for pleasure, we encourage you to join in the Regatta.

    Those not wanting to paddle can catch the outdoor fun and cheer on the racers. Free live music, awards ceremony, and food and drinks will be available for sale at the finish line are at Sesquicentennial Park.

    WHEN: Saturday, March 7, 2009

    WHERE:
    Starting Line: 7700 San Felipe (just west of Voss )
    Finish Line: Sesquicentennial Park (adjacent to the Wortham Theater Center), Preston Street (between Bagby and Smith streets)

    300 canoes and kayaks vie for first place.  Beginner and competitive paddlers alike are welcome to join in on the fun.

    For more information on individual canoe and kayak divisions visit www.buffalobayou.org.  Prizes will be awarded to the top three place winners in the Corporate Cup, Unlimited Divisions and one grand prize winner for the Styrofoam Cup.  Benefiting Buffalo Bayou Partnership and its conservation, recreational, and beatification programs enhancing Houston’s historic Buffalo Bayou.

    Tickets:

    The Regatta is free to anyone wanting to watch.

    The cost is $40 per person to participate in the Regatta. This includes an event t-shirt, lunch, and the fun of the race. (After Februray 26th the entry fee will increase to $45.00 per person).

    7:30am Regatta Registration Opens
    9am Race Begins
    1pm Awards Ceremony
    2pm Regatta & Festivities End

    11 min. to 1 hour - $3
    1 hour to 2 hours - $5
    2 hours to 3 hours - $7
    3 or more hours - $9
    Maximum rate - $9 per day
    Lost ticket - $9 per day
