Anya Tish Gallery is pleased to present A Likely Story, a multi-media exhibition by gallery artist Garland Fielder.

Fielder's latest work revolves around the five Platonic solids, which Plato believed to be the essential building blocks of all matter in the universe, each one corresponding to air, water, fire, earth or space. Fielder has applied these metaphorical concepts through a micro/macro sensibility, combining complex manifestations of rocketry and space couture with celestial paintings of imaginary Platonic constellations.

Fielder transforms the venue into a rich tableau meant to evoke meditations on both a philosophical and interstellar exploration.

Please come and experience A Likely Story at the opening on February, Friday 13th from 6 to 9pm.

Fielder received his MFA from the University of North Texas in 2005 and has been exhibiting regionally and nationally since. Most recently his paintings were included in New American Paintings, Western Edition, 2008. He is also an art critic and contributes to Artforum.com, Art Lies and Glasstire.com. He is currently the Visual Arts editor for Arts Houston magazine.
