The Lone Star Symphonic Band is slated to perform a March-inspired concert on Sunday, March 8th, 2009 at the Houston Community College Town and Country Campus’ Performing Arts Center. The Band will perform a 3:00 pm matinee and a 7:00 evening concert, with tickets at $5 each for either performance. Tickets for both performances will be available at the door.

Selections to be performed include “The Beau Ideal” by John Philip Sousa, “Colonel Bogey” by Kenneth Alford, “Valdres” by Johannes Hansen, “Marche Slave” by Peter Tchaikovsky, “Warship March” by Toukichi Setoguchi, “March of the Toys” by Victor Herbert, “March of the Belgian Paratroopers” by Pierre Leemans, and “Amparito Roca” by Jaime Texdor.

The Lone Star Symphonic Band is an adult semi-professional wind ensemble dedicated to bringing performances of artistic merit to the Houston area community. Founded in 1993 as the West Houston Concert Band, the band is comprised of musicians from all walks of life and instills the value that music is a life-long event, continuing well beyond high school and college, and awards the Jon K. Fisher Memorial Scholarship to students majoring in Music. In the summer of 2005, the Band entered into a joint venture with Houston Community College – Town and Country Campus, offering the band as a course for credit to HCC students interested in performing with an ensemble. The Band is under the direction of Mr. Bob Bryant.
