G Gallery in the Heights presents the exhibition Hans Molzberger: GERMAN SIGHT.  On view March 7 through March 24.

Molzberger is a completely self-taught artist. He first began to make art in 1982 and had his first show in 1991.

He was born in the Kannenbäcker region in the Rheinland where his family has lived for many generations. His father, grandfather, and extended family all worked in industrial ceramic factories. However, it would be wrong to assume that Hans´s work is a direct legacy of this tradition.

Feeling trapped by the almost total dominance of the ceramic industry in his life, he left home and began drifting from job to job across the country, avoiding all contact with anything that reminded him of life in the industrial ceramic life that he had fled.

It was during those drifting days that he experienced a profound personal crises brought on by alcohol and internal conflicts. He found his life to be intolerable and began to reaccess his priorities. This period of soul-searching led to a new positive outlook on life and down the road of self discovery through art.

    1982 studio in Wendland
since 1985 objects and assemblages, ceramic sculpture
since 1989 recognition as independent artist
since 1991 member of the association of visual artists
1993 transfer to the Altmark, Sachsen-Anhalt, until 1996 construction and establishment of studio facilities Hilmsen 1.
