The University of Houston Downtown - O'Kane Gallery presents Shades-Drawing The Space,  on view March 26 through April 23.

Artists Sara Schneckloth from Columbia, SC, Danielle Riede from Indianapolis, IN, and Jessica McCambly from San Diego, CA come together from across the U.S. for a three person exhibition at the O’Kane Gallery.

With drawing as a starting point, the artists push the linear into the third dimensions with structures that extend off flat surfaces and create drawing in space. Guest curated by former Houstonian Anila Quayyum Agha, Shades-Drawing the Space is an exhibition that gives line over to linear structures that stand in relief of the flat surface. For each artist, abstract notions of the physical and ephemeral, past and present, real and facsimile, grand and miniscule interact in a play of light and shade.
