    Rice University - Shepherd School of Music presents Exploring the Mind Through Music, Friday through Sunday, March 27 through March 29. The conference will bring together distinguished scientists, composers and musicians to discuss music's role in human cognition and behavior.

    Rice University - Shepherd School of Music presents Exploring the Mind Through Music, Friday through Sunday, March 27 through March 29. The conference will bring together distinguished scientists, composers and musicians to discuss music's role in human cognition and behavior.

    Speakers include:

    Dr. Jonathan Berger, Co-director of the Stanford Institute for Creativity and the Arts at Stanford University
    Dr. Anthony Brandt, Associate Professor of Composition and Theory at the Shepherd School of Music
    Dr. David Eagleman, Director of the Laboratory for Perception and Action at Baylor College of Medicine
    Dr. David Huron, Professor of Musicology at Ohio State University
    Dr. Fred Lerdahl, Fritz Reiner Professor of Music Composition at Columbia University
    Dr. Isabelle Peretz, Co-director of the International Laboratory for Brain, Music and Sound at the University of Montreal
    Sarah Rothenberg, reknowned pianist and Artistic Director of Da Camera of Houston
    Dr. Gottfried Schlaug, Director of the Neuroimaging Laboratory of Beth Israel Deaconess and Harvard Medical School
    Dr. Ron Tintner, Department of Neurology of Methodist Hospital
    Dr. Mark Tramo, Director of the Institute for Music & Brain Science at Harvard 

    All events are free and open to the public.

    The event is co-sponsored by Dean Robert Yekovich and the Shepherd School of Music, Rice University's Humanities Research Center, the Center for Performing Arts Medicine at Methodist Hospital, and Rice University's Office of the President through a grant from the University's Faculty Initiatives Fund

    All events are free and open to the public. No registration or advance reservations are required. Seating will be on a first-come, first-served basis.

    Parking:

    The parking system of Rice University is in effect 24 hours a day, every day throughout campus. For Rice Campus parking information, please visit http://parking.rice.edu/.  

    Free parking is available in the Greenbriar Lot (between the Rice Stadium and Greenbriar Drive, Entrance 10). There is a Rice shuttle bus stop in the Greenbriar Lot, and the buses run approximately every ten to fifteen minutes Monday through Friday before 9:00 p.m.
