Archway Gallery (Dunlavy location) presents the exhibition by artist Rosanne Hudson: Revelations. On view March 7 through April 2.

As an artist Rosanne has developed her abilities by continuously participating in art education. She has studied at the University of Arizona, Glassell School of Art, North Harris County Junior College, London University, taken private and group lessons, and has studied with many well known Houston and nationally known artists through attendance at art workshops and seminars. She belongs to several organizations that promote art.

Rosanne always strives to satisfy her own artistic ideals, while pleasing the eye and senses of the audience that view her work. She wants her viewers to come back to her art again and again, knowing that new mystery and mood will be discovered in it.

    The artist writes:
My art begins with the application of layer upon layer of acrylic glazes onto canvas. In some cases the painted canvas is embellished with paper in strategic places that make the composition evolve, and it becomes the collage. In other cases the canvas stands independently with paint, gel mediums and texture. When the color has been established by the glazes and the shapes reveal themselves, I can emphasize them or diminish them, according to the developing design. It is at this point that I try to capture the idea that will determine the final outcome of the piece. The process itself is my inspiration.

I have worked in watercolor, oil paint, acrylic and pastels and I feel my experience in these varied materials has prepared me for work in mixed media and collage.

New works evolve and become very different from past works, but there is always a thread that unites them.
