Brigid's Place and the National Counci of Jewish Women invite area residens to the 11th Annual Women’s Seder -  oppression, liberation, remembrance, March 24, 2009 at 6:30 pm in the Great Hall at Christ Church Cathedral at 1117 Texas Avenue.

A Seder is a Passover ritual meal that recounts and celebrates the Exodus of the Jews from slavery in Egypt and their journey to freedom.  The Haggadah or liturgy of the Women’s Seder was written by and about Jewish women, focusing on the women of the Exodus as well as notable Jewish women of today.

Some biblical scholars believe that Jesus’ last supper was a seder because it occurred during Passover. More recently, the story of the Exodus figured prominently in the American civil rights movement.

Participants will be seated at tables of ten, each led by Jewish women. Together with the symbolic foods of Passover, a full meal will be catered by Betsy Siegel.
