Houston Mod announces its 2009 Architecture Tour featuring the works of architect William R. Jenkins.

In the early 1950s, William R. Jenkins established himself as one of Houston's best young modern residential architects. Discover and appreciate his legacy with Houston Mod as we embark on a three hour bus tour to exteriors and interiors of 10 of his important early designs.

A total of 10 houses will be on the tour, with 4 of the houses opened for interior viewing. Tours depart the Lawndale Art Center on Saturday, April 25th at 10AM and again at 2PM. Each bus tour will last approximately 3 hours. An fully-illustrated guidebook, HIGH STYLE IN THE SUBURBS, The Early Modern Houses of William R. Jenkins will be available and its author, Jason Smith, will be available to answer questions.

The annual Lawndale Modern Market will be open from 10:00am - 5:00pm ($5 entry) and those that attend both the tour and market will receive a free T-shirt*.
