On Sunday, May 3, at 4:00pm Dancepatheatre and Songbird Sanctuary present  Island Arias, a fun and beautiful music house concert at the Songbird Sanctuary in Montrose. The stars are the Sanctuary's current artists-in-residence: mezzo-soprano Lyndsey Johnson, and lyric soprano Meghan Tarkington, with pianist Eugene Joubert accompanying.

Our singers will perform a beautiful collection of classical arias, art songs, and lieder. Also featured will be your favorite numbers from South Pacific, The King and I, and other island-themed songs. To keep cool in our summery mood, guests are encouraged to wear Bermuda shorts, Hawaiian shirts, sarongs, halter tops, flowers in hair, sandals, and leis.

We'll provide refreshments, wine, paper fans, and air conditioning.

Island Arias is a fundraising event for Dancepatheatre, in preparation for its June 20, 2009 debut in Zilkha Hall of Hobby Center for the Performing Arts.
