    The Rothko Chapel presents Has Change Come? Human Rights in the United States under the Obama Administration, David Fathi, Speaker.  Thursday, April 23, at 7pm.

    The Rothko Chapel presents David Fathi (pictured), director of the US Program for Human Rights Watch. The US Program works to defend the rights of particularly vulnerable groups in the United States, and has published groundbreaking reports on the death penalty, prison conditions, racial discrimination, and the rights of immigrants, among others. Before joining Human Rights Watch in 2007, Fathi spent ten years as a staff lawyer with the ACLU National Prison Project, where he brought lawsuits challenging conditions in prisons, jails, and immigration detention facilities throughout the United States.

    An American of Iranian descent, Fathi is a graduate of the University of Washington and the Boalt Hall School of Law at the University of California, Berkeley.

    Free event, however suggested contribution of $5 - $10.

    To help us anticipate seating needs, we invite you to RSVP.   Because seating is limited, all non-ticketed events are on a first come basis.

    The Rothko Chapel programs are partially funded by Lannan, The Brown Foundation, Inc., the City of Houston through the Houston Arts Alliance, and individual donors.
