    Together with Yoga for Peace, The Rothko Chapel will host a Kirtan event on May 17.

    The Sanskrit word kirtan means to repeat. It is a joyous call from the heart to the divine in all of us to awaken true peace and love.     Together with Yoga for Peace, The Rothko Chapel will host a Kirtan event on May 17.

    The Sanskrit word kirtan means to repeat. It is a joyous call from the heart to the divine in all of us to awaken true peace and love. Artists including Sean Johnson and the Wild Lotus Band from New Orleans, Hare Krishnas, Ragha Music, and the Bhat Sisters will gather to express their devotion through kirtan, devotional chanting typical of Hindu worship, with a call and response.

    Each group will take a turn and then all will appear together for a finale. The kirtan will be an interactive, joyous event where attendees will participate in chanting for peace, love, and enlightenment.

    Free event, however suggested contribution of $5 - $10.

    To help us anticipate seating needs, we invite you to RSVP.   Because seating is limited, all non-ticketed events are on a first come basis.

    The Rothko Chapel programs are partially funded by Lannan, The Brown Foundation, Inc., the City of Houston through the Houston Arts Alliance, and individual donors.
