Waldorf Education for Houston is a non-profit organization whose mission is to promote Waldorf Education in the Houston area and grow Shining Star School into a full Waldorf School in Central Houston. Established in 2001, Shining Star School currently serves children 15 months to age 6 and anticipates opening a first grade in 2010 with plans to add one grade each year up to grade 12. For more information on the school, please visit www.waldorfhouston.org.

Waldorf Education is a holistic and developmental approach that integrates academic, practical and artistic elements as it addresses the changing needs of the growing child and maturing adolescent. Waldorf schools, now found all over the world, engage the heart and hands, as well as the mind with a lively, experiential curriculum rich in the basics, literature, history, languages, the arts, the social and natural sciences, and technology. The website www.whywaldorfworks.org  provides a wealth of information on this amazing educational system.
