Houston Friends of Music presents the Trio Solisti on Tuesday, February 9, 2010 in Stude Concert Hall on the campus of Rice University. The piano trio composed of violinist Maria Bachmann, cellist Alexis Pai Gerlach and pianist Jon Klibonoff, has earned a national reputation for its passionate, committed and bold performances. This will definitely be the evening for musical adventure with the Brahms Trio No. 2 , Rachmaninoff Trio No. 1 and works by Turina and Piazzolla.

Trio Solisti has made critically acclaimed debuts in New York City at Lincoln Center, the Kennedy Center in Washington D.C., and internationally in Canada, London, Cortona, Italy and Paris. The Trio share their expertise with master classes and audiences at numerous festivals across the United States; and they are the founding ensemble of the Telluride MusicFest, which celebrated its sixth anniversary in 2008.

The members of the group record both as an ensemble and individually. Their newest ensemble CD, Café Music was released in 2008 to rave reviews. It includes composers such as Piazzolla, Schoenfield, Turina, and Gershwin. Previous recordings include an all-Brahms CD and Trio Solisti Explores Beethoven.

Trio Solisti has appeared on the nationally broadcast radio show “St. Paul Sunday” and has been featured on NPR’s “Performance Today” in numerous live performances across the United States since their inception in 2000. They have drawn high praise from such journals as The New York Times “….consistently brilliant and compelling….” and The Washington Post “a transcendent performance in every sense of the word.” The Trio Solisti is the only piano trio on the HFM series this year so you want to make sure that you are a participant in this evening of electrifying music!
