The Orange Show presents Heartworn Highways:  A Tribute to the Music of Townes Van Zandt and Blaze Foley. Saturday, June 13, Musicians Robert Ellis, Jon Hogan, John Evans, Carley Wolf and Matt Harlan take turns celebrating the lives and works of legendary Texas songwriters Townes Van Zandt and Blaze Foley at an evening concert.

Rescheduled from March 14 due to inclement weather.

Close friends and musical kindred spirits, Townes Van Zandt and Blaze Foley each created a body of work that continues to inspire countless singer/songwriters to this day.  These five artists will interpret Townes and Blaze’s work in their own individual style, finally coming together for a finale honoring two Texas music legends:

    Robert Ellis
Local troubadour Robert Ellis has made a name for himself play rootsy folk at every club from Beaumont to Austin and beyond.

    Jon Hogan
Charismatic performer, and self-confessed “musical outsider artist” is a true orginal who melds New Folk melodies with gothic storytelling and a 1930s Progressive sensiblity into songs that are pure Americana.

    John Evans
Currently immersed in Rootsbilly rock, John Evans musical past is steeped in the history of Texas singer/songwriters like Townes and Blaze. Expect him to put his own hard-edged twist on the old classics.

    Matt Harlan (pictured)
First making his mark at the Kerrville Folk Festival in 2003, Matt Harlan bounced around Austin and the Hill Country playing power chords in alt-country bands before dropping the pick to develop his own unique finger picking style and a hearty folk sound.

    Carley Wolf
Austin singer-songwriter Carley Wolf is a multi-instrumentalist who sings songs of love and loss with the soul of a gypsy and the heart of a vaudeville performer.
