At Houston Family Arts Center, actors find that they are all like family, and they love to learn and work together! Through theatre, individuals grow in confidence, character, and acting skills, and families grow closer. Part of the magic of theatre is the relationships that are formed. Not only do young actors at Houston Family Arts Center learn about every aspect of live theatre and how all the parts fit together to make a whole; they also are sharing, making new friends and having fun! The core values for the theatre are: Family, Teamwork, Respect, Love, Integrity, Excellence, Diversity, and Fun. These eight core values are infused into every performance and every class.

This year, Houston Family Arts Center will be offering home school drama classes, beginning in the fall of 2009. A non-auditioned class for students between the ages of 7 and 17 will meet on Wednesday mornings from 10:00 – 11:30 am between August 19, 2009 – April 28, 2010, at the HFAC Rehearsal Studio, 10760 Grant Road, Houston, TX 77070, near the intersection of Jones and Grant.

Some of the subjects covered over the course of the year will be: pantomime, movement, improvisation, scenes and monologues, articulation, volume/projection, vocal inflection, developing character, basic dance choreography, fight choreography, and singing techniques. Students will present performances twice during the school year.

Cost of tuition is only $450 for the full year, spread out in monthly payments of $50 per month. A full year of classes should fulfill the requirement for one semester’s fine arts credit. Classes will be taught by a team of instructors, headed up by Pamela Moore.

In addition, HFAC will be holding auditions for performances to be rehearsed and presented during the school day. Contact HFAC at hfac@houstonfac .com to be kept informed of upcoming auditions and performance opportunities. Technical theatre opportunities for older teens are available during home school and main stage performances at Houston Family Arts Center.

She is a two-time NATS Intercoastal division musical theatre winner, KCACTF nominee, Gimme-the-Mike Houston finalist, and BTP alumni.

Pamela has choreographed and music-directed various middle school, high school, and church productions in the Houston area. Some theatre performance credits include Jekyll & Hyde (Ensemble) at TUTS, A Wonderful Life (Ensemble) at TUTS, Jekyll & Hyde (Emma), Footloose (Ariel), How to Succeed in Business… (Hedy), Seven Brides for Seven Brothers (Milly) at HFAC, and While Childhood Slept (Vera).
