    Bayou Bend Collection and Gardens presents their Third Annual Fourth of July Celebration. Bayou Bend Makes History Fun for the Whole Family!

    Celebrate Independence Day at Houston’s home for America's treasures! Bayou Bend presents its third annual 4th of July extravaganza of Americana – historical performers, crafts, activities, and refreshments – and don’t forget to sign a Texas-sized reproduction of the Declaration of Independence before you leave.

    With its unique blend of the arts and American history, Bayou Bend is the perfect place to celebrate American freedom in style.

    Schedule of Activities and Events:

    Roaming Performance
    1:00 — 4:00 p.m.
    Texas Army Fife & Drum Corp.

    Diana Terrace
    1:30 p.m.
    The Houston Museum of African-American Culture
    A presentation about African-American life in the American colonies.

    2:30 p.m.
    Paragon Brass Ensemble
    Presenting more great patriotic marches and brass band songs.

    3:30 p.m.
    Reading of Declaration of Independence / Cake Cutting
    A ten-minute reading of the Declaration of Independence followed by birthday cake for the U.S.A. that everybody gets to share!

    4:00 p.m.
    The Blue Gnus
    20´s — 30´s style American Jazz

    East Terrace
    4:00 p.m.
    The Houston Museum of African-American Culture
    Encore presentation

    Diana Lawn
    1:00 — 4:30 p.m.
    Colonial Era Soldier (Bill Covington)
    View recreation uniforms and equipment of soldiers who fought in the American Revolution and meet the man who made them.

    1:00 — 4:30 p.m.
    Sign the Declaration of Independence

    1:00 — 4:30 p.m.
    Craft Activities: Red, White, & Blue Bracelets
    Using yarn and straws, these colorful bracelets allow you to wear your patriotism on your sleeve.

    Visitor´s Cottage
    1:00 — 3:00 p.m.
    Refreshments - Lemonade, water, cookies, etc.

    Varner Room
    Craft Activities: Coffee Can Drums
    Recreate a Colonial Army- era drum with a coffee can and other craft supplies.

    Mineola Room
    Craft Activities: Watercolor Fireworks
    A little water, a little paint, and a sheet of paper are all it takes to create your own firework masterpiece.
