The Catastrophic Theatre in cooperation with Stages Repertory Theatre presents the world premiere of The Tamarie Cooper Show:  Journey to the Center of My Brain (in 3D)! Conceived, directed and choreographed by Tamarie Cooper. July 30-August 29 at Stages Repertory Theatre, 3201 Allen Parkway.

Tamarie Cooper’s original theatre work is well known to Houston audiences. For the last 12 summers she has presented an entirely original, full-scale musical, filled with new songs by various local composers and lyricists every single year. Her original plays have been, without question, the most reliably popular of the annual offerings from TCT or her previous company Infernal Bridegroom Productions. So there is nothing new in the fact of her creating one more in a series of brand new works, as spectacular and entertaining, as it is personal and moving.

Cooper’s new show takes the audience on a journey to the center of her brain (enter at your own risk!). Singing neurotransmitters, brainfarts, raging hormones, Tamarie’s inner child, id, and super-ego are just some of the characters featured in this journey of self-discovery, science-style!

In this world premiere musical extravaganza, Tamarie plays herself and she shares the stage with Catastrophic favorites Kyle Sturdivant as her Self-Control, Walt Zipprian as Dopamine, Noel Bowers as a blues-singing brainfart as well as Daniel Adame, Julie Boneau, Jeremy Carlson, Sara Jo Dunstan, Rebecca Randall Feit, DeWitt Gravink, Christian Holmes, Sean Patrick Judge, Richard Lyders, and Karina Pal-Montano Bowers.

This year’s installment of The Tamarie Cooper Show features new songs by Anthony Barilla, Joe Folladori, DeWitt Gravink, Andrew Lienhard, Keith Reynolds, Patrick Reynolds, and Greg Stanley with musical direction by John Duboise and vocal direction by Chris Bakos and Cathy Power. The orchestra features Chris Bakos, Kevin Blessington, John Duboise, Andrew Lienhard, Cathy Power, and Kirk Suddreath.

The show’s book was written by Patrick Reynolds and Tamarie Cooper.

The show is designed by the Catastrophic/Stages dream team of Jodi Bobrovsky (set and props), Kirk Markley (lights), Chris Bakos (sound), Tim Thomson (video), and Tamarie Cooper and Tina Montgomery (costumes).
