The Museum of Fine Arts, Houston presents MFAH Discussions and Workshops: How to Look at Contemporary Art

This 2-part program is an informal class for anyone who wants to learn some basic tools for engaging, interpreting, and experiencing contemporary artworks. Part classroom-discussion (with treats!) and part in-gallery workshop, How to Look at Contemporary Art will teach attendees about strategies and tactics for looking at contemporary art as well as about its art historical context. Both sessions will be led by MFAH Educators.

For the first session, we will discuss common roadblocks when it comes to thinking about contemporary artworks and then will introduce tools that can be used to engage and interpret them.  The second session will focus on discussing contemporary art in the context of the larger spectrum of art history.

The museum´s in-house Cafe Express will be open during the program so snack and sip while you discuss. Call Cafe Express at 713-639-7370 to reserve dinner in advance or order online at www.cafe-express.com
