    The Houston Symphony and the Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion present Viva Filarmonica, Thurday, September 10, 2009, at 8:00 PM.

    Embark on a cultural experience that takes you from Spain to Mexico discovering classical Hispanic music with the Houston Symphony's Viva Filarmonica September 10. The Symphony will be under the direction of Alondra de la Parra (pictured) and will feature guest guitarist Pablo Sainz Villegas.

    Hispanic music has a wide variety of sounds, instruments and origins that entertain the music lover in everyone. This program highlights Hispanic culture by presenting classical music by composers from Spain, Mexico and Latin American countries. The evening’s program includes Chávez’s “Sinfonía India,” Piazzolla’s “Tangazo,” Rodrigo’s Concierto de Aranjuez for Guitar and Orchestra, Márquez’s Danzón No. 2, Ibarra’s Sinfonía No. 2, and Revueltas’s “Sensemaya.”

    Pre-concert activities for Viva Filarmónica  begins at 7 p.m. Learn everything you want to know about Hispanic and classical music at Pavilion Talk, a free pre-concert discussion that provides insight into the evening’s program from 7:15 to 7:45 p.m. At Viva Filarmónica, enjoy activities by Woodforest National Bank with Barkley, Amazing Siding, the Chick-fil-a Cow and Audi of America, official automobile of The Pavilion.

    Preferred parking for this event is available at all Ticketmaster locations for $5 plus service charge.

    Parking:

    Pre-paid, preferred parking is available in the Gold Lot parking garage. To purchase tickets for the parking garage, call Ticketmaster at 1-800-745-3000 or visit any Ticketmaster Outlet or The Pavilion Box Office.

    FREE guest parking is available in lighted and patrolled lots convenient to The Pavilion. For most events, lots open 90 minutes prior to the performance.

    Parking for guests with mobility impairments is available with proper state identification. There are a limited number of parking spaces available on a first-come, first-served basis in the Gold Lot adjacent to the VIP entrance. Access is via Six Pines Drive.
