November 1 is a Target Free First Sunday at the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston.

The Museum of Fine Arts, Houston, offers free admission all day, the first Sunday of each month, courtesy of support from Target.

As part of Target Free First Sundays, the museum’s education department plans an array of art activities, performances, films, and refreshments from 1 pm to 5 pm designed to give families an interactive experience, with an emphasis on current exhibitions.

That means free admission all day for everyone, and special family-friendly programs.

Come discover the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston inside and out!   Enjoy family flicks, sketching, storytime tours, and geometric refreshments.  The family flicks are shown in Brown Auditorium Theater on the lower level of the Law Building.   Art activities are held in both the Law and Beck buildings, and refreshments are provided.

Sunday, November 1:  Travel to the Past.

Discover art through an assortment of fun activities. Explore and make art, hear a story, watch a performance or Family Flick, and more! Each month offers a new opportunity to enjoy and learn about art.

Visit ancient Vietnam, Greece and Rome as you Travel to the Past. Learn how to make artwork out of colorful stones just like the ancient Romans. Become a potter as you sculpt and design amazing vessels like those in the exhibition Arts of Ancient Viet Nam. Meet a Greek soldier from over 2,000 years ago who can tell and show you about life back in ancient Greece. Listen to stories from the mythical past as you are surrounded by artifacts from the ancient world.

Sketch what you see, play fun looking activities in the galleries and more. Don´t forget to watch the classic film Jason and the Argonauts before you complete your journey!

Target Free First Sundays are free. No pre-registration necessary and you may drop in and stay as long as you wish.
