The Grand 1894 Opera House presents Cherryholmes. Cherryholmes hits the stage on Friday, October 16, bringing their hard-driving instrumental virtuosity and explosive vocal harmonies to The Grand 1894 Opera House at 8 pm.

They’ve conquered Branson and Dollywood, bringing crowds to their feet at every performance, driving it hard and serving it straight up. With their fluidity of instrumental movement and dance, it's a look and sound that can only be described as Cherryholmes. Sponsored in part by the Adolf and Kaethe Wechsler Memorial Fund and Mid-America Arts Alliance, they are “The Real Deal.”

With their roots based in bluegrass, Celtic, and jazz music, Cherryholmes has stormed to the top of the music world since winning the 2005 IBMA (International Bluegrass Music Association) Award for Entertainer of the Year. Their self-titled debut album on Skaggs Family Records in 2006 received their first Grammy nomination for Best Bluegrass Album, and their second Grammy-nominated album "Black And White" came in at No. 1 on Billboard's Bluegrass Album Chart. Cherryholmes' latest album, "Don't Believe" garnered them their third and fourth Grammy nominations for Best Bluegrass Album, and crossed them over into the Best Country Instrumental Performance category for the track, "Sumatra."

The band - consisting of members of the Cherryholmes family, including father Jere and wife Sandy Lee and their kids, Cia Leigh, BJ, Skip, and Molly Kate - began their musical career after experiencing a bluegrass festival and wondering what it would be like to start their own family band. Jere took the lead, and assigned the kids an instrument each. Both having a strong background in Celtic music, he and his wife Sandy decided to teach the basics of each instrument to the children. The rest seems to be history. The most incredible part, it seems, is that they've been playing for over five years unprofessionally, and all self-taught. Molly Kate and BJ are fiddlers, Skip is a guitarist, Cia Leigh is an award-winning banjo player, Sandy Lee is on mandolin, and backing up everyone is Jere.

Come experience Cherryholmes at The Grand and see why music fans everywhere call them “The Real Deal.”
