The Grand 1894 Opera House presents The Most Valuable Player. The Grand 1894 Opera House’s Serious Fun performing arts season continues Tuesday, October 20, at 10 am with The Most Valuable Player. Children of all ages will enjoy the dramatic and touching chronicle of Jackie Robinson, one of America’s most inspirational heroes. This moving play from Dallas Children's Theater chronicles the events that shaped Robinson's character and the tremendous obstacles he overcame, changing the face of our national pastime, and ultimately our nation as well.

The triumphant story of Jackie Robinson, the first African-American to play professional major league baseball, chronicles the young athlete’s nonviolent struggle to integrate what was once considered a “white man’s game”. Through it all, Jackie’s courage, intelligence, leadership, resilience and athletic skill propelled him to become a national hero. Jackie Robinson's life and legacy will be remembered as one of the most important in American history.

Rated by TIME Magazine as one of the top five theaters in the nation performing for youth, Dallas Children’s Theater is a professional theater serving more than 270,000 young people and their families through its 11 main stage productions, national touring company, and education and outreach programs. As the only major organization in Dallas focusing solely on youth and family theater, DCT builds bridges of understanding between generations and cultures, instilling an early appreciation of literature, art and the performing arts in tomorrow’s artists and patrons.
