Baytown Little Theater presents Barefoot in the Park,  by Neil Simon.  Directed by Maggie Eubanks. Opens Friday, September 11, at 8:00 pm. Performances continue September 12, 18, 19, 25, and 26 at 8:00 pm and matinees on Sundays, September 13, 20 and 27 at 2:30 pm.

Neil Simon’s first runaway Broadway hit (it ran for more than four years!) follows the lives of newlyweds Paul and Connie Bratter as they adjust to married life in a tiny Greenwich Village apartment. Paul is a lawyer wound a little too tight, while Connie is a free spirit bubbling over with romantic notions.

In typical Simon style, all manner of comic chaos ensues as the young couple’s marriage begins to collapse under the pressure of a five-flight walk up, a skylight that leaks snow, an eccentric neighbor who must climb through their apartment to get to his, and Connie’s misguided attempt to marry off her mother.

The Dallas Morning News says, “Neil Simon’s comedy is 30-something now, but its newlywed protagonists remain forever young.”
