    Celebrating 40 Years of Masterworks

    Geri Hooks and Hooks-Epstein Galleries are very proud to present Masterworks, an exhibition of sculpture, works on paper, and paintings celebrating the gallery's Fortieth Anniversary. The exhibition opens with a reception for the artists on Saturday, September 12, 2009, from 6:00 to 8:00 pm. The exhibition continues through Saturday, October 17, 2009.

    Artists will include: Julie Brook Alexander, Mel DeWees, Kathryn Dunlevie, Teresa Dunn, Jim Falick, Scott Gordon, Mayuko Gray, Leamon Green, Mark Greenwalt, Pang Chieh-Hsu, Kelli Scott Kelley, Kurt Kemp, Otis Lumpkin, James Mathison, Bernard Mattox, Richard Neidhardt, Kermit Oliver, Martin Payton, Gladys Poorte, Robert Pruitt, Mr. Red, David Robinson, John Mark Sager, Ward Sanders, Eric Sealine, James Michael Starr, Masaru Takiguchi, and Kyle Young.

    Hooks-Epstein Galleries opened its doors in 1969 on Bissonnet Street in Houston with an exhibition of Pablo Picasso's Saltimbanque suite. It has been located on Colquitt, better known as "Gallery Row", since 1992. Throughout the 40 years of existence, the gallery has mounted many exhibitions that received national and international acclaim. The gallery has published catalogues which continue to be used as a source of information and has produced exhibitions which have traveled to museums and other venues. One of Houston's longest running art galleries, Hooks-Epstein Galleries represents established, mid-career, and emerging artists. The gallery specializes in 20th and 21st century representational work with a particular emphasis on works on paper, contemporary studio glass, and sculpture.

    Masterworks will continue through October 17, 2009.
