Archway Gallery presents Double Vision, a two-person show featuring the work of Liz Hill and Susan Sheets.  Double Vision opens the 1st Saturday in October.   2 artists 2 visions, bringing their unique approach to the human figure.

Liz Hill:  "My art is experimental in nature, I am always pushing forward with new ideas and methods of working. Because I see the contemporary world as fast moving and immediate, I find working in water media, a way to reflect my current environment. The use of collage from current sources serves me well."

Susan Sheets:  “I’m from Texas, a state of intense heat and sun. I am struck by the bareness of the landscape and amazed by the occasional fertile pockets of life. Here and there, an explorer will find a cool area with tumbled rocks, pools of shallow water, sunken vegetation, exotic limestone formations, and hidden wildlife. Livestock, birds and animals survive wearing the rich and lush colors of the earth. Animals are shy but curious about intruders. These sharp contrasts in life, and the horses that I love, are the subjects of my work.

I am an oil painter, working in the traditional way with a classical technique of glazes on canvas. This provides me with the strong contrasts and values I seek in my representations. I am influenced by the work of Vuillard and Bonnard, both strong in pattern and movement. I am thrilled by new terrain and new landscapes and look for an opportunity to paint everywhere that I can.”
