ArchiTypes and the Houston Public Library are pleased to announce another installment in the  Authors in Architecture series. This month, featuring the work Modern Architecture and the Mediterranean - Vernacular Dialogues and Contested Identities,  Edited by Jean-Francois Lejeune and Michelangelo Sabatino.

This book considers the influence of the forms and tectonics of the Mediterranean vernacular on modern architectural practice and discourse from the 1920s to the 1960s. This is the first study to address the comprehensive influence of the Mediterranean on the work and writings of major figures of modern architecture. This essay collection can be read as an alternative history of the modern architecture and urbanism of a critical period in the twentieth century.

This monthly series is free and open to the public and generously supported by the Architecture Center Houston Foundation. Join us for the 6pm presentation and discussion at the Downtown Houston Public Library (500 McKinney) and then a book signing and reception at Architecture Center Houston (315 Capitol) at 7pm.
