Rudolph Projects ArtScan Gallery is pleased to present Recent work by artists Stephanie Toppin, Derek Shumate and Patrick Turk, Opening Saturday October 3, 5:30 - 8pm.  Rudolph Projects ArtScan Gallery is pleased to present Stephanie Toppin, Derek Shumate and Patrick Turk in "Recent Work," a look at the recent output of three Houston based artists using abstracted forms in their work.  Exhibition on view through October 31, 2009.

Stephanie Toppin's paintings represent a new approach to abstract painting. Her work continually vibrates and pops with radiant, bold colors showcasing a newcomer to the Houston art scene's radar.

Derek Shumate's mixed media paintings are an homage to the graffiti filled streets of the world's most populated cityscapes. There you will find an abundance of surface textures and hands that have grazed across them. Layer upon layer is built up until the painting is sufficiently packed to the gills.

Patrick Turk is presenting a series of recent collage work in the Project Space. In the resin coated surfaces of his collages, there is an almost OCD feeling to the repetition of imagery. This leads to an Op-Art inspired presence that feasts and messes with your vision.

Art is a sharing of personal experience, however profound or mundane. Personal experience is all we have, individually and collectively.
