The Alley Theatre presents Young Performers Fall Studios.

    Morning Classes: 10:00AM – 11:30AM.

TEATRO ALLEY (ages 7-9). Open up a magic door to language, learning, and adventure as kids explore and perform their favorite storybooks. This studio class will be taught in English and Spanish and incorporate movement, improvisation, and scripted storytelling. Characters from kids’ most beloved books come to life!

SHAKESPEARE’S VILLIANS AND ROGUES (ages 10-12) Meet Shakespeare’s Bad Guys and Mean Girls! Have fun exploring the Bard‘s twisted plots and powerful themes. Students will prepare staged readings of scenes, monologues and final projects.

ACTING LAB - COMEDY (ages 13-17) Acting in comedies is serious business. Students in this lab will learn how to establish authentic acting and grounded scenes by studying classic and contemporary clowns, jesters, fools, wits and sober folks in genuinely funny situations. This eight-week lab culminates with staged readings and final projects.

    Afternoon Classes: 12:00PM – 1:30PM

CREATIVE DRAMATICS (ages 7-9) This workshop for young performers introduces students to the excitement of creative drama through children’s literature. Every Saturday, Teaching Artists read a new children’s book with students and explore dramatizing the story through improvisation, movement, music, and props. Lessons will promote physical expression, build self-confidence, and explore students’ imaginations.

ACTING FUNDAMENTALS (ages 10-12) Students in this studio will discover the building blocks of an actor’s craft -- ensemble techniques, physical agility, spontaneity, compassion, and communication. Students will rehearse scenes, collaborate on story dramatizations, and develop the acting skills needed to create truthful characters on stage. This eight-week lab culminates with staged readings and final projects.

VOCAL POWER (ages 13-17) Train your voice to reach its fullest potential while developing perfect articulation. Say it loud and clear and discover the amazing power of your own voice.
